Your gown is here at last!  This is probably the first time you have had your gown on in the correct size and color. Plus - it's new! This is one of the most exciting times during the dress process as your gown is now ready to be tailored to you. Your wedding gown will be unlike any gown you have ever worn and should be the most impeccably tailored garment you will ever wear. Our seamstresses have been in the business for 35+ years, and will take great time and care to ensure that your gown is the perfect fit for you.

All alterations are done in-house and our seamstresses will work with you from start to finish. After your gown has been expertly fitted, we will schedule a time for you to pick your gown up prior to your wedding. In the days leading up to when you will take your gown home, our staff will be working diligently to steam your gown and prepare it for travel. Your veil and any other bridal accessories you may have will also be expertly packed for you to take with you on the same day.

We understand that some of our brides may prefer working with their own seamstress. If this is your preference, we will prepare all of your items for you to take home to meet with your seamstress.

All alteration services are paid directly to our seamstress and are by appointment only on Monday evenings. To schedule your appointment, please contact us at 479.631.2006.

Important tips to know

  • Fittings typically start about 8 weeks prior to your wedding.

  • A stylist will be present during your fitting to answer any questions you may have and help you with any accessories you may still be shopping for.

  • On average, three fittings are necessary; some brides need more - some need less!

Your first fitting: What to expect

As with everything in your wedding, every bride and every dress is different, but there are some typical happenings that take place during every fitting. To begin, you must bring the following:

  • Wedding shoes (or shoes of exact height)

  • Wedding undergarments

  • Any wedding accessories you may have (if we do not have them here for you)

  • Your calendar to schedule subsequent fittings

Upon arrival, you will be greeted and taken to your fitting room to change. Occasionally, alterations may run a bit longer or shorter than planned and if that is the case, the stylist who greets you will let you know your approximate wait time. All fittings take place on our stage, so there will be plenty of room for you to view your dress from all angles. The seamstress will address the fit of your gown (bust, waist, hips) prior to pinning your hem. Depending on the fit of your gown, your hem may be discussed at your second fitting, allowing the seamstress to fit your bodice first. An important note about hems: most brides require their hem to be adjusted, unless your gown is ordered with a custom length or you choose shoes that lift you high enough. After the fit of your gown and your hem are adjusted, you and the seamstress will then determine the best bustle for your dress.

It is important to remember, that all gowns needed some tailoring. Wedding gowns are made differently than other clothes and require special attention to ensure the perfect fit. After all is pinned, you will be able to get a better feel for how your dress will feel on the big day. (Excluding all those pins...)

Your follow up appointment will be scheduled after your first fitting. At the time of your next fitting, the areas previously addressed will have been altered and you will continue from there!

With over 30 years of experience, our seamstress have an extensive collection of knowledge about how to achieve the best fit in your wedding gown. Needless to say - you are in terrific hands!
