How did you two meet?
A mutual friend introduced us and we started dating in college, and the rest is history!
How did he propose?
"Brad just got a new job, and I thought we were on the way to a welcome dinner for him at Bordinos. It was a random weekday evening, so I wasn’t expecting anything. He tricked me and told me that they had to postpone the dinner for an hour later because something came up at work, and asked if I wanted to drive up to Mt. Sequoyah while we waited. When we got up there, the trees were really full and blocking the view from the car, so he asked me to walk with him so we could see the view better. As we were looking at the sunset over Fayetteville, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. The way the light hit the ring as he opened the box was so beautiful! I was totally shocked!! He did such a good job surprising me!
What Has been your favorite part of married life so far?
Living with my best friend. There is something so comforting about waking up, and coming home to your person. It just makes every day better knowing he is going to be there.
Did you have something "Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue?" What were they?
I had a blue sapphire ring that was also old, a new dress, but I didn’t actually have something borrowed – oops!
What was the highlight of your big day?
Our last dance. As our guests were leaving the venue to get ready for our send off, we stayed inside the ballroom and had the place all to ourselves to enjoy one last dance. The day was so fun, but when it was just the two of us left, everything started to sink in. As we were dancing, Brad said, “This is the best day of my life. I love you so much.” and I burst into happy tears as it hit me that we were married and it was the beginning of forever with him. It was perfect!
If you could offer any advice to newlyweds or couples currently in the wedding planning process what would say?
Focus on your marriage first and don’t let your relationship suffer because of wedding hiccups or details.
Get organized, and stay organized during the planning process.
Communication is key! Talk with your fiancé and your families about expectations early on in the planning process.
Don’t sweat the small the stuff – at the end of the day, you will be married to your best friend, and that is what really matters.
